For freshman admission,
your student must take and succeed in a specific battery of
college-preparatory courses in high school. Transfer
admission also requires significant preparation. Your
student should plan his or her curriculum carefully and start
planning early in the academic career.
Do your research.
You may want to go over the admission guidelines with your
student. Our apply
to the university web page is a good place to start. Many
of your questions may also be answered by looking through
our Frequently
Asked Questions page. If you live in California, you can
call a UC Santa Cruz Admissions Representative who specializes
in your area (see the Contact Admissions
page).
Challenge
yourself and achieve.
UC Santa Cruz is becoming increasingly selective, and achieving
minimum UC eligibility is no longer sufficient for admission
to the campus. Encourage your student to take as challenging
courses as possible and to achieve excellent grades.
Do not neglect the senior
year.
Even after your student is admitted, the offer of admission
may be cancelled if his or her course schedule or grades during
the senior year are inadequate.
